First of all: nano coating on your own is only something for experienced paint care enthusiasts. If car care with classic waxing is not an option, thoughts turn to a do-it-yourself nanopreservation. Applying a nano coatings kit is not entirely hassle-free. Preparing and prepping the surfaces in and on the car require several steps and a great deal of thoroughness. In addition, the whole car cannot be treated at once. Thus, the procedure must be divided into many small areas. A weekend should be planned for the Do-it-Yourself-nano coating. Between the work steps and treated areas, the vehicle must be safely protected. Even with all the care and precision, the durability of a self-produced nano-protection is at best between wax and a professional nano coating. The manufacturers of such kits promise an effective period of about one year. However, they also warn against the demanding procedure of a do-it-yourself nano coating: polishing and degreasing a new car paint requires some experience.
Only specialists should dare to try the “do-it-yourself” procedure for nano coating. The required cleaning and preparation of car and RV paint is already a challenge in itself. A garage has more experience and they have the better tools and products for a professional nano coating with long-term success.
Extremely water repellent surfaces are superhydrophobic. Superamphobic surfaces can also roll off oily substances without a trace and thus form a perfect anti-smear layer.
In the development of repellent nanocoatings and surfaces, one of the difficulties to be mastered is the preservation of the transparency of the respective materials. For example, outdoor solar cells are extremely suitable candidates for superhydrophobic and superamphiphobic surfaces, but the nano-coating must not filter sunlight.
If the focus is on dirt repellency, easy cleaning or protection against moisture, the surfaces are hydrophobic. In the commercial sector, e.g. in the construction industry, stone facades, concrete and plaster are hydrophobic.
Oleophobic means “to make oil repellent”. Oleophobic fibres can no longer absorb oil. Surfaces of textiles, such as carpets and rugs, are oleophobized with finishing liquids (liquors) so that, for example, oil, oil-related substances and dirt adhering to shoes do not damage the carpet. In addition to textiles, stone kitchen countertops are also oleophobized. Graffiti adheres far less well to oleophobic facades and can be removed more easily.
The thicknesses of a nano coating are between 600 and 600 nanometers and differ from the thicknesses of the nano-coating. The nano coating puts on a closed layer. After sealing with nanotechnology, the surface is completely sealed. Surfaces and objects that do not require breathability are suitable for sealing with nanoparticles. The nano coating is used for stainless steel, glass and paints, such as car paints and car glasses.
A nano coating is much thicker than a typical nano coating for the car. Coatings with nano technology have a material thickness of 0.1mm or more. Car paints are applied at the manufacturer with the nano coating, such as concrete coatings in garages.
With nano impregnation, the nanoparticles penetrate into the pore system of the surface. Nano impregnation is used for textiles, wood and natural stone. A closed surface layer is not created with nanowaterproofing so that the objects remain breathable.
