Pump Spray
Occasionally impregnators are also offered as a liquid. As a rule, these are then filled into a pump spray bottle. The liquid is pressed through a nozzle by hand, so that the liquid is finely atomized and can be applied evenly to the surface to be waterproofde.
Spray foam
These agents are particularly suitable for smaller items with smooth surfaces, such as bags. In contrast to the classic spray, a foam is created rather than a mist. In order to distribute this foam as evenly as possible, it is advisable to use a small sponge.
Wash-Ins
Even easier than impregnation spray is the care with modern Wash-Ins. These agents are particularly suitable for clothing. The waterproofing agents is placed in the compartment for fabric softener before starting the washing machine. After washing and rinsing, the agent is evenly distributed over the entire garment. This allows even the areas waterproof, which are hardly hit with a spray. The disadvantage is that the lining fabric is also impregnated. This reduces the breathability of the jacket or coat.
Which technology is used in a particular case usually depends on the size of the item and the nature of the surface. For large items such as a tent, awning, sunshade or convertible top, a spray proves to be practical. For shoes made of leather or textile materials, spray is also recommended because even hard-to-reach grooves can be easily treated with the fine mist. For bags and suitcases, a spray foam is recommended. Jackets, coats and trousers for outdoor activities can be washed quickly and with minimal effort in the washing machine waterproof. If the breathability of these clothes is not to be affected, a spray is preferable.
